Graduate Studies in Writing

In Sarah Lawrence’s graduate Writing program, students pursue the Master of Fine Arts in close collaboration with faculty members who are active, successful writers. The program focuses on the art and craft of writing, rather than on the study of literature.

On a campus of writers, Sarah Lawrence's highly selective MFA writing programs in poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction bring together talented artists in workshops of craft and critique, and pair students with professors in one-on-one conferences. Here, one's voice is shaped through intensive cross-genre work and the experience of studying in a community of writing peers.
