Current research interests include the synthesis of new early transition-metal metal nitride compounds and the development of practical exercises for undergraduate chemistry teaching laboratories. Author of publications in the fields of inorganic and physical chemistry, as well as chemical education. Recipient of research grants from The Royal Society, the Nuffield Foundation, Research Corporation for the Advancement of Science, and the American Chemical Society. Received postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Texas at Austin and Cardiff University, Wales.
