Registration
Monday January 25–Friday January 29th at the Campbell Sports Center
The first 2 days of registrations are for Undergraduates Only. Graduate students may register starting Wednesday January 27th.
Physical Education Classes Begin Monday February 1, 2010
Please note that we will continue with our revised registration process. Physical Education classes now run for either 6 weeks or 12 weeks.
6 week courses will earn 1 PE Credit and will run Feb. 1–March 12 or March 29–May 7
12 week courses will earn 2 PE Credits and run Feb. 1 – May 7 (no classes during spring break)
The College Requirement for Physical Education remains the same: 4 PE Credits (4 quarters)
PE Credits are NOT included toward the academic total of 120 credits needed to graduate.
Intramurals
Organized League Play – Monday Nights, 7:30 p.m. in the Main Gym – All Are Welcome!
First Session: Soccer (Coed)–starts Monday February 1
Second Session: Volleyball (Coed)–starts Monday March 29

About Physical Education
- If you are on a “Wait List” please attend the first class and check in with the instructor.
- All vans leave from Andrews Parking Lot
- Independent Work-Outs at the Campbell Sports Center: To earn credit for work-outs please see a fitness center staff member or lifeguard for instructions on how to record your workouts.
- You must attend at least 5 out of the 6 weeks (or 10 out of the 12 weeks) in order to receive credit.
- Classes that meet twice per week require attendance both days in order to receive credit.
Class Descriptions
Bowling:
Van leaves Andrews at 4:00pm
Capoeira:
Originating in Brazil, Capoeira is an art form that combines dance, self-defense, acrobatics and music.This excellent work-out will improve strength, balance, flexibility and coordination.
Fencing:
Introduction to fencing as a modern, athletic, competitive sport. This course will be a physical introduction to the art of fencing. Emphasis will be on “doing”. All equipment provided.
Ice Skating:
Recreational skating at Yonkers Rink. Admission will be paid by the College, there is a $3.50 charge for skate rental. Van leaves from Andrews at 2:30pm.
Lifeguard Training:
This course leads to Red Cross certification. There is a $80 registration fee to cover books and the certification cards from the American Red Cross.
Ski/Snowboard:
Thunder Ridge is a very small mountain—but the facility is fairly close to campus and the price can’t be beat! Join us for four fun Fridays of twilight skiing and snowboarding. Fee: $60 includes transportation, lift ticket and equipment rentals for all four weeks! Bus leaves from the Campbell Sports Center at 2:00 p.m.
Water Safety Instructor:
The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course provides instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross swimming and Water Safety Program. Whether you want to splash around and teach kids to swim, help children or adults refine their strokes or teach diving safety techniques, you can do it as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Satisfactory course completion will lead to eligibility for employment in the SLC youth swim program. Note: Class hours alternate on each Saturday, first class is 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., next is 12-4:30 p.m., etc. Fee: $100.00
Zumba:
A high energy fusion of Latin dances; it’s not a work-out…it’s a party!
