Head Coach: Matthew Cribbin

Assistant Coach: Alex Miller

The coaching staff is excited about building on last year’s accomplishments and achieving new goals this season. With the energy of returning players, and the prospect of new and talented teammates, the Gryphons look forward to challenging each opponent in the Hudson Valley Conference. The season begins in early September and concludes with the conference tournament in early November.

Congratulations to Matthew Cribbin—Named HVWAC Volleyball Coach of the Year 2008!

In his first year at the Sarah Lawrence helm, Head Coach Matthew Cribbin certainly made an impact: the Gryphons finished in third place in the HVWAC and advanced to the Championship Match for the first time ever, after a thrilling 3-2 upset win over Saint Elizabeth in the November 2nd Semifinals. While Sarah Lawrence fell to top-seeded St. Joseph’s in the Championship, Cribbin led the Gryphons to a 6-12 overall record that saw the Gryphons finish 3-3 in HVWAC play. For an outstanding season at Sarah Lawrence, Cribbin was voted the 2008 HVWAC Coach of the Year. Cribbins’ accomplishments were particularly impressive considering that the Sarah Lawrence team—after advancing to the HVWAC Semifinals a year ago—featured a roster that included 11 freshmen and sophomores, and only two seniors. With nearly a dozen team members returning in 2009, it would appear that another run to the HVWAC Finals is not out of the question a year from now. —Excerpted from the HVWAC Weekly Volleyball Report
