Exchange Programs
Reed College Exchange Program
In 1994, Sarah Lawrence inaugurated an exchange program with Reed College in Portland, Oregon. This program enables Sarah Lawrence and Reed students to study on one another’s campus for an academic semester or year. Students pay tuition charges to their home institution, and all financial aid grants and loans are applied to those fees. In order to qualify for the exchange program with Reed, students must have strong academic records and have completed the first and sophomore years. Qualified students also have the opportunity to participate in any one of either college’s study-abroad programs. Students must complete either their junior or senior year in Bronxville. Students who have transferred into Sarah Lawrence College with a maximum of 60 credits are not eligible to study in the Reed Exchange Program. Information on Reed’s study abroad programs can be obtained on its Web site. Sarah Lawrence students should contact Prema Samuel, the director of international programs, for further information and an application.

Spelman College Exchange Program
Beginning in spring 2007, women students at Sarah Lawrence College participate in an exchange program with Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. Spelman is a private, historically black college for women founded in 1881. Qualified students may also apply for the Spelman exchange with Tsuda College for Women in Tokyo, Japan. Students participating in the exchange are charged Sarah Lawrence tuition. All financial aid grants and loans are applied to those fees. Sophomores and juniors in good academic standing are eligible to apply for the following year. All exchanges are one-for-one, and admission is contingent on the number of available spaces. Therefore, admission will be determined on the strength of each application. Participation in this program does not satisfy residency requirements. Students must complete either their junior or senior year in Bronxville. Students who have transferred a maximum of 60 credits to Sarah Lawrence College are not eligible to study in the exchange programs.
