Parents and Families
We welcome parents and families to learn about the career services available to students and alumnae/i of Sarah Lawrence College. Our office takes a developmental, student-centered approach to professional planning and growth. We offer a broad range of career services that empower students to explore, define, and realize their career goals. Encourage your student to take advantage of our office as early as their first year, regardless of where they are in the career planning process. It is never too early to start aligning academic passion with professional aspirations.
How you can help your student
Review the following career-planning steps. Where is your student in this process?
- Self-assessment
- Explore and research careers
- Prepare application materials
- Gain experience through internships
- Learn how to ace an interview
- Prepare for graduate or professional school
- Entering the Workplace
Encourage your student to register on CareerLink, our online internship and job listing database, to begin exploring various internship and summer job opportunities. Visit our event calendar and flag programs of interest for your student. Talk to your student about career development, today. One of the most valuable things parents can do to help a student with career planning is listen: be open to ideas, try to help your student find information, and be nonjudgmental.
