Faculty
The Office of Career Counseling offers a comprehensive assortment of programs and services to students and alumnae/i. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with faculty in preparing our students for success as they transition from SLC to the “real” world.
Credential File Service
Students are encouraged to set up a credential file in our office to house letters of recommendation. In order to open a file, students must sign an Authorization Form, which states that once a letter of recommendation is on file, it is completely confidential. This ensures the privacy of the professor who authored the letter. Upon a student’s written request, we will mail copies of your original letter under our cover letter to prospective employers and graduate schools. Please submit your letter on SLC letterhead and send it to our office, which is located at Bates, 2S, via intercampus mail.
How can I guide my donnees?
In addition to sharing your own insight, talk to your donnees about their career interests and inform them of the resources our office provides. We take a developmental approach with students and can begin the career planning process with them at any point. Please encourage your donnees to make an appointment with a career counselor or stop by our office during walk-in hours. You can also suggest that they visit our events calendar, attend our programs, as well as gain experience through internships and summer jobs.
