The Students for Students Scholarship Fund (SSSF) Committee is currently planning our annual auction. Founded in 1958, the annual auction is SSSF’s largest and most successful fundraiser. In existence for 50 years, the money raised has added hundreds of thousands of dollars to the pool of student scholarships and has helped many students become a part of our unique community.

The SSSF auction is completely student run—from soliciting donations to creating advertising. Our goal is to organize an event that is truly a memorable experience for all who participate. This cannot, however, be accomplished without your help.

Each year, we depend on the SLC community—past and present—to make our fundraiser a success both by donating items to be auctioned and by bidding! In the past, we have received tangible items (artwork, collectibles, memorabilia, autographed scripts, clothing, tickets to sporting events) and experienced-based items (a few days at a time-share, a walk-on role in a television show, time with a distinguished professional in a particular field, a home-cooked meal). While we enthusiastically appreciate and receive all donated gifts, we have found that the experienced-based items especially generate excitement and, most importantly, auction bids!

Many of the items that we receive will be auctioned online. This has proven to be a great way for people across the country to participate. For our donors with businesses, this is also a great way to advertise to a large and widespread audience.

The live auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 under a tent on Westlands Lawn. We truly hope you can join us, as we expect to kick off the event with live music and a reception. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to bid at our online auction, running now through April 17th!
