Alcohol and Drugs
Sarah Lawrence prohibits the unlawful possession, use or distribution of drugs/drug paraphernalia and alcohol by any student or employee of the College while on College premises, while performing work for the College, on or off its premises, or while otherwise participating in any College activity — on or off College premises. The College regards illegal drug and alcohol use and alcohol abuse as problems that affect the College community.
The College accords persons of legal age (21) the privilege to drink alcohol responsibly on campus in accordance with the guidelines in College Regulations Regarding Alcohol and Parties. It is the responsibility of all members of the SLC community to know New York State laws, City of Yonkers ordinances, and College regulations regarding the use of alcohol and other drugs. (See the Student Handbook, Appendix 4.) The College's Drug and Alcohol Policy is provided to each student at the beginning of the school year, and the department of Student Affairs conducts educational conferences in the area of drug and alcohol abuse.
It is important that students, faculty, and staff be aware of the College Drug and Alcohol Policy and know where help is available for those who need it. (See the Student Handbook.)
