Career Counseling
The mission of the Office of Career Counseling (located on the second floor of Bates) is to provide services to students and alumnae/i that empower them to define and realize career goals. The career planning process can begin as early as the first year, with students building upon their academic passions through summer internships. We pride ourselves on being a student-centered academic support service. We are not just tuned in to the traditional job market, but are also aware of alternative careers and lifestyles. An increasing range of resources reflects the diversity of career goals, lifestyles, racial and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, physical abilities, and personal interests within the SLC community. In addition, we attempt to connect students with alumnae/i who share their intellectual curiosity and their professional interests. Career services are available to SLC alumnae/i, free of charge, for life. Services include:
- career publications and resources
- internship programs
- online services
- consultation with counselors and career assistants
- special programs for seniors
