Entrance Interview and Paperwork

Before reporting to their departments, all new employees meet with the Director or Assistant Director of Human Resources for an entrance interview to discuss College personnel policies and benefits, and to complete all necessary paperwork.

During your first weeks at Sarah Lawrence, you should take a tour of the campus to acquaint yourself with the buildings and grounds of the College. Please call the Admissions Office at (914) 395-2510 to join one of the regular tours.

• Social Security Number
  All employees must have a Social Security number. If you do not have one, you can get an application form from your local Social Security Office or download one from their web site.
• I-9 Form
  In accordance with Title VIII of the United States Code, we must verify a new employee's eligibility for employment in the United States. Within three days of beginning employment, an I-9 form must be completed and appropriate verification of identity and employment eligibility must be presented. Download a PDF here.
• W-4 Form
  Immediately upon employment, a Withholding Tax Form (W-4) must be filed with the Payroll Office. You may download a PDF copy of the form or obtain one from either Human Resources or the Payroll Office. A new W-4 Form must be filed any time there is a change in your name, address or in the number of your dependents or exemptions.
• Identification Card
  Identification cards are issued to all regular employees and are available from Duplicating Services, located next to Bates. The card is used for security reasons and for certain privileges such as check cashing, discounts at the College Bookstore and local restaurants, library privileges and admission to the Campbell Sports Center and special events.
• Parking
  Parking tags are available free of charge through the Office of Campus Facilities and Administrative Services. Please register with that office immediately if you plan to use your car for transportation to Sarah Lawrence. At the time you register, you will be told which parking areas are available for your use. Use of parking facilities is subject to the rules and regulations set up for compliance with the Clean Air Act. Car-pooling is strongly encouraged.
