The Visual Identity Manual provides guidelines meant to protect the integrity of the Sarah Lawrence College logo and ensure consistency in visual elements of College materials. It is an essential resource for anyone working on or contracting someone to work on design materials for the College.

The Sarah Lawrence College Style Guide provides valuable information designed to present a consistent representation of the College in all communications. Information in the style guide includes grammar and usage guidelines as well as standard and approved copy on topics such as the history of the college, our philosophy, and many other aspects of the College that are frequently used in communication materials.

Executive Communications

- The Vice President of Communications & Marketing takes a leadership role in crafting communications for and to the President, senior staff, and the Board of Trustees.
Media and Community Relations

- Media Relations
- The Office of Communications & Marketing issues regular news releases to the media about goings on at the College; these releases are also posted online in the News & Events section. To read recent releases, select the "News Releases" filter in the News Stream.
- News and other media outlets are combed on a constant basis for mentions of the College or its faculty, students, staff, or alumni. These are known as SLC in the News and Buzz items. Select those filters in the News Stream to view recent items.
- Occasionally, feature stories are posted on the public Web site to highlight goings on of particular interest.
- Community Relations
- The Office of Communications & Marketing works to maintain and improve the College's standing in the local community, especially in the city of Yonkers and the village of Bronxville.
- InTouch newsletter is published three times a year and sent to neighbors in the 10708 zip code (as well as to anyone who subscribes to the newsletter online). Included in each issue is a calendar of upcoming events. InTouch is also distributed to staff and faculty across campus with an insert called Inside, which details stories and news of special interest to this audience.
- A Local Community portal on slc.edu aggregates resources from all areas of the College that may be of interest to our friends and neighbors.

- Undergraduate Course Catalog
Formerly a comprehensive print piece, the catalog is now primarily an online reference tool, with an abridged version available in print format. Available each year in late summer.

The public Web site is maintained using a Content Management System (CMS). At present, there are a few departments on campus who manage their own section of the site using the CMS. Documentation and training documents are being finalized to enable a greater segment of staff to manage their online content.
Photography and Photo Library
Primary contact: Jean Smith, Director of Creative Projects
- The Director of Creative Projects evaluates on- and off-campus events to determine which should be covered by a professional or student photographer. Departments that know of an event that might bea candidate for shooting can contact the Director to discuss the project.
- Photographs are stored in the Office of Communications & Marketing's Digital Asset Management system. The system catalogs photos using a system of keywords, making it relatively easy to find photos for use in print and online projects.
Printed Materials/Publications

- Undergraduate and Graduate Admission Recruitment Materials
A fully integrated collection of materials used in-house to introduce prospective students to the College and keep them engaged during their college and graduate school search process. All current publications are housed in a publications library on the public Web site.

- Print Materials
Our office assists with brochures, postcards, pamphlets, newsletters, and other print materials for departments all across campus. - Sarah Lawrence Magazine
Published twice each year, in the Spring and Fall. Copies are distributed to all departments on campus; feature stories are also published online at slc.edu/magazine. - Print Services
Our in-house Print and Direct Mail Manager serves as an expert on postal and mailing regulations, and works with an extensive network of vendors, from printers to mailhouses, to ensure cost-effective and timely production and delivery of print projects.
