Alumnus Rahm Emanuel Addressed Class of 2009 Extolling the Value of a Liberal Arts Education; Calling on Graduates to Serve a Cause Larger than Themselves
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel addressed the 327 undergraduates receiving the Bachelor of Arts degree and 129 graduate students receiving master's degrees from eight programs at Commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 22, 2009.

New Dean of the College Named
Sarah Lawrence College President Karen Lawrence and Board of Trustees Chair John A. Hill have announced that Jerrilynn D. Dodds will become the next Dean of the College, assuming responsibilities on August 1, 2009. Professor Dodds comes to Sarah Lawrence with a strong academic and administrative background.
$600,000 in Lead Gifts Launch “Angel” Fund for Student Aid at Sarah Lawrence College
As colleges and universities across the country grapple with the challenges of the economic crisis, members of the Sarah Lawrence College Board of Trustees have created a special fund for students whose families face sudden financial hardship that jeopardizes their ability to continue their studies at the College.
