History of the Folk Festival
The Folk Festival began with Chris Faroe ’09, who, while on vacation from his year abroad in Oxford, pieced together a one-night showcase of SLC talent and visiting folk musicians in under two weeks.
The event was such a success that the following year he and John Powell ’09, with much aid from their respective clubs, secured more funding and more varied acts, moving the venue to the Slonim Living Room and making it a two-day event.
Liam O’Brien ’12 has headed the organizing committee in successive years, and the committee is open to any student wanting to help out. The festival is completely student-run.
