Tooting Our Horn

We’re proud to announce that the Design issue of Sarah Lawrence (fall 2008) won top honors in a national competition. The newly redesigned magazine bested 46 publications from colleges and universities to win the Grand Gold Award for Excellence in Periodical Design from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. The issue also won an award of excellence from the University and College Designers Association.

Impressing judges is nice, but what’s really important is that we impress you, our readers. Judging from the responses to our reader survey, we’re doing a pretty good job (though pleasing a crowd as diverse and opinionated as SLC alumnae/i is a daunting task). A few of you expressed dissatisfaction with the magazine’s new look, but the vast majority of responses have been enthusiastic.

Our goal, as always, is to engage and entertain you with stories that capture the creative, adventuresome spirit of Sarah Lawrence. We trust you’ll let us know whether we’re succeeding.
