We remember the following faculty and staff members who were vital members of the Sarah Lawrence community:
Alice Stone Ilchman, the eighth and longest-serving president of the College, died on August 11, 2006. More about Alice Stone Ilchman.
Rolf Altschul (right), faculty emeritus, who taught chemistry from 1945-87, died on July 16, 2006.
Sally Lowengart Lilienthal ’40 A Sarah Lawrence College Trustee from 1973 to 1979, she died on October 25, 2006. She was the mother of Andrea Lilienthal ’68 and Laurie Cohen ’69, and the mother-in-law of former trustee Nancy Cantor ’74. Please see our Winter 2004 issue for more about her extraordinary work.
Norma Reynolds Dalby Freestone, who taught dance and music from 1968-89, died on May 4, 2006.
Patricia Goedicke Robinson, who taught writing from 1980-81, died on July 14, 2006.
Gilbert Sorrentino, who taught writing from 1972-73, died on May 18, 2006.
