All in a Day's Work: Most doctors can't talk to people

For the last twenty years, I’ve had a family practice in Tewkesbury, Massachusetts. Over the years, I’ve learned that-because of their limited educations-most doctors can’t talk to people. I always try to understand what every patient’s life is like outside the confines of an exam room. As a family doctor, my work is extremely personal. Life and death are my bread and butter. I’m good at what I do because I have the context of a liberal arts education. And for the record, my mother, my wife, my sister and my daughter all went to SLC.
