Inside Westlands Gate
Farewell to an Icon
After months of testing and analysis in hopes it could be saved, the oak outside Westlands, a College icon that had witnessed Sarah Lawrence’s first 75 years, was cut down the weekend after Thanksgiving.
A Field Grows in Bronxville
Build it, it’s said, and they will come. In the case of Sarah Lawrence, gather a team, and its arena shall be made ready.
Grand Opening
Students, alumnae/i, faculty, parents, staff, trustees and local residents were all part of the November festivities celebrating the culmination of the College’s successful $75 million campaign and the grand opening of the Monika A. and Charles A. Heimbold, Jr. Visual Arts Center.
Bates: Born Again
Sarah Lawrence is committed to building community life on campus—literally. When art studios and classrooms took up residence in the Monika A. and Charles A. Heimbold, Jr. Visual Arts Center, nearly 21,000 square feet –much of it in Bates– opened up elsewhere on campus, and a massive renovation project is now underway. "Our top priority is creating spaces to foster community and enhance student life," says President Michele Myers.
Beyond Borders
"I’m still having a very rich love affair," said University of Pittsburgh Professor George Reid Andrews—with his book, Afro-Latin America, 1800-2000, on which Andrews based his October lecture in Titsworth Lecture Hall.
Education in Crisis
To test or not to test?
