William Rubin, who taught art history at the College from 1952 to 1967 and served as a trustee from 1979 to 1986, died at home in northern Westchester County on January 22, 2006. A private collector as well as a scholar, he had a long curatorial career at the Museum of Modern Art after leaving Sarah Lawrence, rising eventually to direct MOMA's celebrated and powerful department of painting and sculpture. At Sarah Lawrence, he helped establish the discipline of art history as integral to the College's curriculum. Sarah Lawrence awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2000.
Priscilla Terraforte, the College's telephone operator from 1982 to 1994, died on February 7, 2006.
