is a free, online database that focuses on issues of sustainable development and
the environment. It includes data from more than forty internationally reconized
sources, including international and national agencies as well as private corporations
and organizations.
Envirolink
Claiming to be the largest and most frequently consulted online environmental
resource, this is of particular value for its collection of resources at the
EnviroLink Library.

Directory for Botany
A searchable index to botanical information
on the Internet, including resources dealing with arboreta, botanical gardens,
natural history museums, gardening, threatened plants,
ethnobotany, and much
more.

Science Tracer Bullets Online
Called "tracer bullets" because
they are designed to put a reader on target, these literature guides address a
variety of important subjects in the fields of science and technology. All issues
from 1989-present are available in this online version, and are searchable by
keyword, title, and Tracer Bullet number. Each installment includes links to issues
with a similar focus, and lists of relevant subject headings, literature, and
organizational contacts. Print

Planetary Science Research Discoveries
The mission of this
site is to bring the latest discoveries in planetary science to a wide
audience.
Articles are arranged under several broad topics, including individual planets,
the
origin of life and recent controversy over life on Mars. Articles feature
graphics and
illustrations from primary source material and include both bibliographic
references and
Internet links to primary sources.
National Academy of Sciences
The
home page for access to the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy
of
Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council.
Includes full-text
versions of publications from these bodies, which mostly
deal with current issues relating to science and society.
National
Library for the Environment
The National Library for the Environment
is a project of the Committee for the National
Institute for the Environment
(CNIE). The library addresses the need for objective,
scientifically sound
information on environmental issues. It has several on-line components,
including
Congressional Research Service Reports, In Depth Issues in the Environment,
and Population and Environment Linkages.
National
Oceanographic Data Center (NDOC)
Data available include coastal
water temperature, wind velocity and salinity which can be
plotted or downloaded
for later manipulation. Also some interesting animated models of sea
surface
temperature and water levels.

An excellent
overview organized to mirror biological classification schema.

A
mutil-faceted site, which provides informative links, articles, and other forms
of literature concerning the many scientific issues that society is facing today.
