SLC
Slide Collection The Visual Resources/Slide Library 35mm slide collection
encompasses every major area of Western art and architecture, as well as significant
holdings in ancient Asian, Greek, Roman and Islamic architecture and minor arts.
The Dale Harris Collection (DHC) includes French, German, and British social and
political history, dance history, and decorative arts. ARTstor
Online Digital Library Artstor is a growing digital image library and initiative
of the Mellon Foundation available to SLC students and faculty. ARTstor offers
approximately 300,000 images drawn from collections which include The Illustrated
Bartsch, MoMA Architecture and Design collection, the Huntington Archive of Asian
Art, the Mellon International Dunhuang Archive, as well as monuments of world
art, American art, architecture and visual culture from Colonial to the 20th century.
To access this library database go to the Esther Raushenbush Library Home Page,
click on the Research Tools link, followed by the Databases & Articles link.
Databases are organized alphabetically under Databases by Name. To download an
image you must enter a valid SLC log in user name. Questions regarding accessing
Artstor may be answered by the Esther Raushenbush library reference staff. SLC
Slide Circulation Policy This facility is open to all students and faculty
of Sarah Lawrence College. If you are a first time user, please schedule an appointment
with one of the curatorial staff for orientation. Users must present a valid Sarah
Lawrence ID card to browse and sign out slides in the collection. We encourage
both faculty and students to return borrowed material immediately after use. Staff
are happy provide an orientation of the facility to faculty/students, but staff
do not pull slide material for faculty/students. Slides may only be used for SLC
classes and lectures. Slides may not be used to generate income or profit, or
used in any performative or installation aspect, and are not allowed to be duplicated
or digitized. Slides may be put on hold for in the Slide Library for a maximum
of 7 days. - Faculty
maximum loan and hold period: 7 days

Overdue
& Replacement Fines All circulating slides are subject to overdue fines
and replacement costs for loss or damage. All circulating slides are subject to
recall. Overdue Fines: Constitutes 1-12 days past stated return date. After
12 days the slides are considered lost and the borrower is charged a replacement
fee per individual slide. Borrowing privileges at both the Slide Library and the
Esther Raushenbush Library are suspended until all fees are paid in full. - Overdue
Fines: .25 cents per day, per slide
- This
fine is capped at $60.00 (inclusive for all slides overdue)
- Overdue
fines are non-refundable.
Lost/Damaged
Slide Replacement Fines Slides that are 12 days or more beyond stated return
date are considered lost. Replacement fines are also applicable to damaged slides,
where the film condition is no longer useable. - Non

Copystand
35 mm Film Slide Creation We will create slides that are not in our collection
for SLC faculty and students educational use and solely at the discretion of the
curatorial staff. There are no charges for this service. All slides created by
the library are the property of the library and will be mounted in archival mounts,
cataloged, and filed. The library does not duplicate slides or create slides for
personal use. - Processing

images and below: 14 Business days (Business days do not include Saturday &
Sunday)

images and above: Additional 7 business days per roll of film (35 images constitutes
1 roll of film)
On
occasion and solely at the discretion of the staff the Slide Library can create
a duplicate slide for a faculty member and only during original copystand production.
The Slide Library charges .25 cents per slide plus actual film & processing
costs. The duplicate slides are not labeled or mounted in archival mounts. The
Slide Library will only create a maximum of 70 duplicate images per 12 month period,
per faculty member. Digital
Images The Slide Library is experimenting with slide digitization. At
present we do not provide or create digital images. If you wish to create a digital
image by either a flatbed or slide scanner you may use the Media Lab located in
the Heimbold Center, Room 209. If you have further questions regarding the Slide
Library's digitization policies please speak to Bianca Hook. Donations The
Slide Library does not accept image donations in digital format. The Slide Library
will accept 35mm film slide donations solely at the discretion of the curatorial
staff. Slide donations must meet the following criteria for acceptance which can
include: relevancy to the existing collection, image documentation, and image
