Faculty Bios
Scott Calvin (SLC 2003 - ) B.A., University of California-Berkeley. Ph.D., Hunter College. Taught at Lowell High School, University of San Francisco, University of California-Berkeley, Hayden Planetarium, and Hunter College. Postdoctoral research associate in X-ray spectroscopy of magnetic nanoparticles with the National Research Council. Author of research papers in X-ray absorption spectroscopy and physics education, as well as books intended to prepare students for the Medical College Admissions Test.
Ron Egatz is winner of the Glimmer Train Poetry Award and the Greenburgh Poetry Award. A poet widely published in literary reviews and anthologies, Egatz also runs Camber Press, Inc., a boutique literary publishing company. He lives in New York.
Joan Forsyth is a multi-faceted musician who has received critical acclaim as a soloist and chamber music artist. She has collaborated with such ensembles as the Cassatt Quartet, the Theater Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center and CYGNUS, and appeared as soloist with the New Westminster Symphony, the Westchester Philharmonic and the Westchester Chamber Orchestra.
Rachel M. Simon's book of poetry, Theory of Orange, won the Transcontinental Prize and was published in 2006 by Pavement Saw Press. She teaches creative writing at SUNY-Purchase as well as for Sarah Lawrence College’s High School Summer Seminar for Writers.
Penny CM Stankiewicz is a seasoned film producer in New York. She is a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education. After completing her studies in sugar, she started Realm of the Senses and has since earned kudos from Time Out New York, the New York Daily News, and her devoted clients. Penny also leads popular confectionary classes at Blu Culinary Arts.
