Graduate Teaching and Internships

Through the Community Writers Program, Sarah Lawrence graduate writing students teach workshops, tutor or assist a writer-in-residence in the classroom. Support and training for writers in the Community Writers Program have included a monthly practicum and a series of workshops throughout the academic year. Students also have access to the Teaching Resource Center, an extensive collection of books related to teaching writing. Placements are available at a variety of traditional and non-traditional settings, and have included:

• Baccalaureate School for Global Education (Astoria, Queens, NY)
• The Bronx Academy of Letters
• Concourse House (Bronx, NY)
• State University of New York at Purchase
• Teachers & Writers Collaborative
• The Westchester County Correctional Facility
• Westchester County Department of the Aging
