Relevant Films and Readings
Films With a Special Focus
In the course of developing the Monday Afternoon Series, we have begun to establish a collection of films that have some relevance to genetic counseling field. Viewing classical and contemporary films can help stimulate discussion of familial relationships and conflicts, morbidity and chronic illness, death and dying, personal and familial crises, birth defects. Additionally, we discuss the relevance of the films to genetic counseling and psychosocial counseling.
We update this collection annually. Please let us know if there are any films you would like us to add.
The following database of readings has been compiled over the last few years. As you can see, it contains readings in all categories, including fiction and non-fiction, personal accounts and general discussions of pertinent issues. We have assigned readings from this list to incoming and returning students, and have distributed it to individuals interested in the genetic counseling field.
We update this database semi-annually. Please let us know if there are any readings you would like us to add.
