Health Advocates in Research 2005
The Health Advocates in Research conference took place on January 14, 2005 at Sarah Lawrence College.
The Health Advocacy Program at Sarah Lawrence College invited advocates whose current or future work involves research advocacy to attend this day-long conference dedicated to initiating dialogue and fostering alliances. Together, we considered these important questions:
- How do we—and how should we—participate, as advocates, in research?
- What ethical principles should guide our participation in research?
The conference day was designed to maximize active engagement. Participants gathered as a whole at plenary sessions, and then broke into smaller working groups to focus on specific questions and tasks. The closing session examined the day’s work, highlighting linkages and propelling us toward collaborative next steps.
