Requirements. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with a strong undergraduate record. Each application is considered on its individual merits. The admissions committee looks for strong writing and analytic skills, a demonstrated interest in public service, a personal sense of the importance of advocacy to patients and families, and clear motivation to enter a new and challenging field of health care. Health care and other professionals, consumers active in health or social-welfare networks, adults changing careers, and recent college graduates with a commitment to improving people’s access to health services are invited to apply.
Applicants must submit a completed application, two references, and official transcripts of all undergraduate work. An interview with the program director or designated representative is required. Students are generally admitted into the program for the fall semester, although January admission is possible under special arrangement. Students may attend on either a part- or full-time basis.
