Goings On: Dance Alumnae/i in the Field
Jon Kinzel MFA '09 will be dancing at New York Live Arts March 7-10 in a quartet choreographed by Jodi Melnick, Solo, Deluxe Version, One of Sixty Five Thousand Gestures, with live music by People Get Ready.
Pam Tanowitz MFA '98 will perform at the Kitchen March 8-19, 2012.
Several SLC alumni and faculty will be participating in Roulette, concept and programming by Sally Silvers. These are three nights (Oct 14-16 at 8 p.m.) of movement-centered, on-the-spot collaborations with Theater Directors, Choreographers, Coaches, & Instructors from diverse fields and backgrounds to construct new performance compositions live each night on the spot. SLC participants include faculty members Peggy Gould and Kathy Westwater MFA '01, as well as alums Neil Greenberg MFA '08, Christopher Williams '99, Belinda He MFA '08, Julia Panine-Troiani '07, John Kinzel MFA' 09, Liz Filbrun '05, and Jeremy Pheiffer '09. Aaron Mattocks '02 is spending a very busy fall touring and performing with the cast of Phantom Limb's new show 69°S (at BAM Nov. 2-5); John Kelly's Find My Way Home, (at NYLA Oct. 21-23, 25-29); and Big Dance Theatre's Supernatural Wife (at BAM Nov. 29-Dec. 3). In addition, he will be presenting his own work at the Chocolate Factory, Nov. 8.
Rashaun Mitchell '00 will be presenting his own work at Danspace on Thursday, October 20 as part of Food for Thought. Based on Actual Events, the evening's title, was curated by Pam Tanowitz MFA '98. He also continues to perform on the Legacy Tour of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Final dates in Europe and the U.S. are scheduled for this fall with performances in NYC at BAM December 7-10 and at the Park Avenue Armory December 29-31.
Milka Djordjevich MFA '05 will be showing work-in-progress material for a new work made with Moriah Evans, Kyli Kleven, and Sarah Beth Percival on Monday, October 3, 8 p.m. at Movement Research at Judson Church.
Jon Kinzel MFA '09 will be performing A Compositional Study in Available Light on Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m. at Open House New York/Tillett Lighting Design, 172 North 11th, Brooklyn.
Teresa Fellion MFA '11 and Alexis Silver '04 performed with Sarah Skaggs Dance in three performances for the 10th Anniversary of September 11th. "A Roving Memorial" was performed at Union Square, Washington Square, and Battery Park. Silver was also Skagg's rehearsal assistant for the project.
BIODANCE's Absent Presence chosen to be performed at the White Wave 2011 DUMBO Dance Festival in NYC: Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the White Wave John Ryan Theater and Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at the Outdoor Performances at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Main Street Lot at 2 p.m. Missy Pfohl Smith MFA '02, the company's Artistic Director, was recently named Director of the Program of Dance and Movement at the University of Rochester.
Mare Hieronimus MFA '05 will be performing in The White Box Project performances on Saturday, September 10, 17, and 24 at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
Alexis Silver '04 and Justin Coates '04 performed with the New York Baroque Dance Company in the International Handel Festival in Göttingen, Germany. They will be performing the dance suite from the opera Teseo as well as two other suites at the 92nd Street Y performances on September 24th. The details are as follows:
