Support a Student
Generous support keeps the Sarah Lawrence community vital and eclectic.
The College has always honored the belief that tremendous potential doesn’t necessarily equate with significant financial resources—a principle illustrated by the fact that the majority (around 60%) of SLC students now receive some form of financial aid. A significant portion of those funds come through The Fund for Sarah Lawrence from alumnae/i, parents, and friends who want to ensure that the College’s vigorous intellectual dialogue—a hallmark of the Sarah Lawrence experience—continues to be enriched by the voices of students from across the socioeconomic spectrum. Challenging times demand fresh thinking—Sarah Lawrence thinking. In these difficult economic times, your continued generosity is greatly appreciated. Every gift counts.
Support Faculty
The strong commitment of faculty members adds considerable value to a Sarah Lawrence degree. No other major undergraduate college in the US offers the outstanding level of one-to-one interaction between students and faculty that SLC delivers. It’s why so many Sarah Lawrence alums experience great success after graduation, and why the College has never compromised—and never will compromise—its commitment to faculty.
Your willingness to support The Fund for Sarah Lawrence as generously as you can afford plays a pivotal role in helping to maintain the level of teaching excellence and the transformative education that is the Sarah Lawrence experience. Sarah Lawrence thinkers are shaped one mind at a time. Our time is now. Give today.
Support the One-of-a-Kind SLC Academic Experience
The Fund for Sarah Lawrence helps foster independent thinkers who embrace diverse perspectives.
Sarah Lawrence College is known for producing graduates who are equally adept at thinking for themselves and maintaining an abiding respect for others. SLC students engage deeply in studies that examine different points of view and then express the intellectual breakthroughs that follow in papers, poems, problem sets, and performances. This spirited academic dialogue—one of the reasons graduates go on to effect such tremendous changes in the larger world—depends on our contributions to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence. Our time is now. Give today.
Support Technology and Library Initiatives
Since the technological needs of both our students and faculty evolve with great rapidity, we must continually assess our needs and work to stay current. Investing in our infrastructure and equipment supports our unique pedagogy. By increasing access to and use of media on campus, we enhance our faculty’s ability to guide and mentor, and our students’ ability to engage in the constant innovation and intellectual inquiry that is central to the Sarah Lawrence education. Our time is now. Give today.
Support the Beauty of the Sarah Lawrence Campus
Campus life reflects the intellectual, social, and personal interests of the College community. Our Tudor-style campus features opportunities where students may participate in an intimate seminar or poetry reading, then stop by the small stone Teahaus (formerly known as Trinkhaus) on their way back to their dorms, which may be former private homes, small apartments, or traditional dorm buildings. The atmosphere on campus echoes the Sarah Lawrence outlook, whether the sun is shining on green grass or snow is sparkling in the trees. A gift in support of the campus will help to preserve these on-campus offerings that have witnessed so many stimulating academic conversations and unforgettable college moments. Our time is now. Give today.
Support an FSL Scholar with a Gift of $5,000 or More
Annual gifts of $5,000 or greater significantly strengthen the College’s ability to provide students with a transformative education. To recognize this connection of independent minds working together to accomplish one educational goal we offer donors who give $5,000 or more to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence the opportunity to direct their gifts to the FSL Scholars program, and help to underwrite one year of support for one student receiving financial aid. The FSL Scholar donor may name the award, perhaps in honor or in memory of a loved one.
Each FSL Scholar donor will learn about the student who receives the award. The student beneficiary will learn the honoree’s name and the donor’s motivation.
Contributions to the program fulfill financial aid commitments that the College negotiates with individual students. This year more than 50% of students will receive some form of financial aid from Sarah Lawrence, with aid packages averaging $21,000. FSL Scholar gifts this year will allow the current generation of Sarah Lawrence students to remain focused on their academic pursuits by helping ease the financial burdens associated with paying for their education. Our time is now. Give today.
