FSL Scholars

A Sarah Lawrence education is all about connection—between students and faculty members, ideas and coursework, theory and practice. Now, through the FSL Scholars program, a new kind of connection is happening: between students and the donors who help support their education by contributing an annual leadership gift to the Fund for Sarah Lawrence.

Donors who give $5,000 or more to the Fund for Sarah Lawrence can direct their gifts to the FSL Scholars program, which funds current-use financial aid. Each gift will underwrite a one-year scholarship for one student.

A donor will receive a written report about his or her student, and the student will learn the donor’s name as well as any other information the donor may wish to share. Each relationship will be unique, and participants will have the chance to meet in person at an annual celebration in the spring.

Last year nearly 50% of students received some form of financial aid from Sarah Lawrence, with aid packages averaging $21,000. The College expects a similar range this year, making the new FSL Scholars initiative all the more important and rewarding.

Contributions to the program fulfill commitments the College has already made to students about how their education will be funded. Donors will have the chance to get to know the current generation of SLC students and learn what is happening on campus these days. And most importantly, they will have the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping bright, creative students afford a singular and transforming education.
