producer Laura Ziskin, parent of Julia Barry
'05, is featured in a story in the Los
Angeles Times. The two-time producer of the Academy Award
presentations was the driving force behind "Stand Up to Cancer," a
star-filled benefit broadcast which aired September 5 on ABC, CBS,
and NBC.
Newsday and
the South Florida Sun-Sentinel have
reviewed The Size of the World by writing faculty member Joan

Award-winning
novelist Ngugi wa Thiong'o will speak about his life-changing choice
to write in Gikuyu, his native language, rather than English, after
his imprisonment by the Kenyan government more than 30 years ago.
Ngugi wa Thiong'o is director of the International Center for Writing
and Translation at the University of California, Irvine.

Lehrer '77 received a Tony Award for Best Sound
Design of a Musical for his work on the current Lincoln Center
revival of South Pacific. He also won a Drama Desk award
for Outstanding Sound Design for that show.
Stacey
Kent '88 is giving a concert in London to support
breast cancer research.
The
upcoming film The Duchess, starring Keira Knightley, is
based on the novel Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda
Foreman '91. Gabrielle Tana '85 is
one of the film's producers.
Rob
Sternau '79 has joined the management team at Unimac
Financial, Inc. a financial and commercial printer in northern
New Jersey, as its vice president of sales and marketing.
Shqipe
Malushi '85 was recently awarded a Paul Harris Fellow
by the Rotary Club of the Bronx for her courageous work in Afghanistan.
For the past two years Malushi has run a leadership training
program in Kabul.
