Actress Jessica Lange will address the College's 79th commencement on May 23. Acclaimed as one of the great actresses of her generation, the two-time Academy Award winner (Best Supporting Actress for Tootsie; Best Actress for Blue Sky) has more than 30 credits to her name. She's also the parent of a graduating senior.

Letters to the Editor

As spring begins in earnest, a new crop of graduating seniors prepares to join you in the ranks of SLC alumnae/i. Say "hi" if you get a chance.

Rekindle at Reunion

Reunion at the UNBy now you probably know that Reunion is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends, recall treasured days past, and renew special relationships. Here's what you need to know before you come back to campus June 6-8.

First of all, who's coming? Look for your classmates on the registration list.

How do I sign up? Register online...you've got until 5/28.

Will there be anything to do? Short answer: yes. Check out the action-packed schedule of events.

Who's getting awards? Tina Howe '59, Ingrid Sischy '73, and Barbara Taylor Bowman '50 will receive citations for achievement, while Anne Beane Rudman '67 and Molly Caldwell '93 will be recognized for their extraordinary service to the College. Cheer them on at the annual awards luncheon on Saturday.

2007 Westlands Award WinnerI want an award too. How can I get one? Competition for the Westlands Reunion Awards is fierce -- the most-improved participation award is anybody's game, and a gift of any size counts. If your class wins, you'll be collectively immortalized on a cool plaque. Check the standings or make a gift.

Can Reunion make me smarter? Opportunities for intellectual stimulation abound at the round-table seminars on Friday and Saturday.

How can I pay tribute to Grace Paley, Jane Cooper, Rudolf Arnheim, and/or Ray Seidelman? E-mail your stories and memories to be included in a display at the memorial service on Friday and to be preserved in the College Archives.

How can I preserve my memories of SLC? Record them at the oral history booth at Reunion, and they'll become a part of the SLC Archives.

How can I express the depths of my inner experience and/or uncanny worldview for my classmates to see? Try the alumnae/i art exhibit or Reunion Cabaret.

Should I bring my espresso machine/pet turtle/patent leather boots? Ummm...contact the Office of Alumnae/i Relations if you have any other questions. See you at Reunion!

Design in Your Life

The fall issue of Sarah Lawrence magazine is going to focus on design. We'll be thinking a lot about form, function, and the way ordinary objects affect the way we live.

We're curious what alumnae/i-at-large think about these things, and so we've got two questions for you:

  1. What's your favorite everyday object? We want to hear about the toothbrush that fits your hand perfectly, the teapot your grandma gave you, the chair that's so comfortable you don't want to get up.
  2. Conversely, is there an everyday object that annoys you? If you could redesign it, how would it be different?

Send us your answers (100 words or less) and we'll print the best ones in the magazine. Time to put your thinking caps on!
