Summer Writer's Seminar

The Sarah Lawrence College Summer Seminar provides published and unpublished adult writers the opportunity to explore their chosen subject matter and deepen their craft. Our faculty of acclaimed poets and fiction and nonfiction writers meet with seminar participants daily in small, intensive workshops and individual conferences.

Three-Week Summer Intensives for High School Students

This summer, you can enhance your academic experience and explore your passions. Small class sizes give you an exceptional opportunity to learn in a supportive, non-competitve environment. Students have the option to reside on campus. Open to anyone entering the 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2012. Choose from four different areas of study:

The White Mountain Summer Dance Festival at Sarah Lawrence College

Now celebrating its 33rd year, White Mountain Summer Dance Festival offers three weeks of intensive dance training on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College. WMSDF is an exploration of movement and creativity for students, educators, and anyone looking to enrich and deepen his or her understanding of the moving body and the creative process. Under Artistic Director Laura Glenn, WMSDF offers an internationally recognized innovative and comprehensive approach that combines specialized training, personal attention, and hands-on instruction. Sarah Lawrence College & The International Film Institute of New York Summer Film Intensive
July 1-August 4, 2012
Gain hands-on experience and instruction in all aspects of filmmaking, focusing on four core elements: writing for the screen, directing, production, post-production.Lectures feature hands-on camera work, augmented by special guest speakers and behind-the-scenes visits to Manhattan production studios and editing facilities. After you shoot three film exercises focused on different filmmaking techniques, you’re ready to write, direct, produce, shoot, and edit your own short video. You choose the format: narrative, documentary, or experimental. You may choose to stick to a script with actors, costumes, and a controlled set, or you may approach your shoot with the spirit of improvisation. The final product is your completed short—to which you own the exclusive rights—ready for your professional portfolio, graduate school application, or Web distribution. Open to adults as well as high school students.* It is recommended that students bring their own hard drive (250 GB minimum).
