Health professionals and/or individuals in healthcare who have an advanced degree from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply to the PHG program. A basic knowledge of genetics, acquired through coursework or equivalent experience, is required.
Students attending the program bring a diversity of knowledge and experience to the program:
- Approximately 12-25 students are enrolled in the program at any one time
- The age of enrollees varies from 25 to 50+ years of age
- Some students are also matriculated in the Human Genetics master's degree program at Sarah Lawrence College, while others are working full or part time in Public Health
- Still others are individuals who may have worked in healthcare at one time and wish to rejoin the workforce or change careers
- Students also include professionals who work with health professionals and/or patients (social workers, lawyers)
