Dining Locations
All meal plans are honored at the four eating locations on campus.
Bates Common Dining (BCD) is used for lunch and dinner five days a week, and for brunch and dinner on Saturdays and Sundays. All food served in BCD is on an unlimited basis. Students and their guests may pay at the door with cash, credit cards, Meal-money or 1Card-cash if they have already used all the meals for the week on their plan.
Hill 2Go offers quick-pick salads and sandwiches, prepared take-out/reheat meals, and cooking ingredients. The focus is on fresh and local items. Food is sold on an a la carte basis. Cash, meal money, and meal
plans (up to the equivalency rate of the meal plan for that meal period) are accepted.
The Pub at The Siegel Center is a center for socializing and short-order food items. Food is sold on an a la carte basis. Cash, credit cards, 1Card-cash, Meal-money and meal plans (up to the equivalency rate of the meal plan for that meal period) are accepted. After midnight until closing the selection of prepared-to-order items is limited. The complete section of grab and go items is always available.
The Atrium Café located in Heimbold Visual Arts Center lobby offers espresso, prepared salads, sandwiches and sweets. Hot food is not available in this location. Cash, credit cards, Meal-money, 1Card-cash and meal plans (up to the equivalency rate of the meal plan for that meal period) are accepted.
Meal Plans & Equivalency Rates:
Meal Plans 1 & 2 are based on meals per week/equivalency. Plans 3, 4 and 5 have Meal-money in addition to meals per week/equivalency.
Each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are assigned a equivalency rate (these are announced over the summer and are available upon arrival in the fall). If the student chooses to eat a meal in the Siegel Center, Bates2Go or the Atrium Cafe, the equivalency rates are applicable to all purchases. If selection in these a la carte facilities exceeds the preset values, the student must pay the difference in cash, Meal-money, or 1Card-cash, but does not receive a refund if the selection totals less than the equivalency rate.
All resident students must be on a meal plan for the entire year. First-year students must be on meal plan 1, 2, or 3 for the entire year.
Plan 1: $2,494 per semester
This is the complete meal plan. It includes every meal offered: breakfast, lunch and dinner weekdays, and brunch and dinner on weekends. Provided the student expects to eat breakfast during the week, this is the best value. This plan is priced assuming that no student eats every possible meal.
Plan 2: $2,260 per semester
This plan offers the student lunch and dinner weekdays and brunch and dinner on the weekends. This plan is one of the minimum plans required for resident first year students. This plan is also priced assuming that no student eats every possible meal. In the past, a majority of our students have chosen to select this plan.
Plan 3: $2,260 per semester
This plan offers the student any 10 meals a week. In addition this plan includes 275 units of Meal-money per semester. Like the other plans you can use this plan in any of the four eating locations. Resident first year students are allowed to select this plan.
Plan 4: $1,756 per semester
This plan allows the student to eat any seven (7) meals during the week. In addition, this plan includes 150 units of Meal-money per semester that can be used in any of the four eating locations. This plan offers great flexibility and is priced assuming that there will not be any missed meals.
Plan 5: $572 per semester
This plan is primarily a Meal-money plan with the meal of your choice in Bates Common Dining each week. The plan has 375 units of Meal-money in addition to the weekly meal. This plan is designed for upperclassmen that live in housing with a full kitchen who want to cook for themselves throughout the year.
Meal-money does not transfer from semester to semester and is nonrefundable.
