Who is an International Student?
At Sarah Lawrence College, the following are considered international applicants:
- A citizen of a country other than the U.S. who has been educated abroad
- A US citizen educated abroad
All students apply to Sarah Lawrence using the same application. Certain admission requirements or documents, depending on the program of study or years studying in English, will vary. The College offers financial aid ranging from small to substantial amounts to students with demonstrated need, based on a variety of factors including academic strength. SLC values international students because they bring the richness and excitement of a global perspective, so essential in the world today, to campus. In addition to what is added to classroom discussions, international diversity enhances student life in student residences and in social activities.
Nearly 10% of our student population comes from abroad. Forty-two countries are currently represented: Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Burma, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, Malawi, Malaysia, Mexico, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Turkey, United Kingdom, and Zimbabwe.
