Commencement Address

President Lawrence welcomed more than 287 graduating seniors and 144 graduate students, along with their families and friends, to Sarah Lawrence College's 83rd Commencement. Before introducing the day's keynote speaker, Internet publishing entrepreneur Arianna Huffington, President Lawrence opened the ceremony with a traditional address. Karen Lawrence was inaugurated as the 10th president of Sarah Lawrence College in October 2007. She delivered her inaugural address in front of an audience of more than 700 people, including delegates from 83 colleges and universities and students, faculty, staff, alumnae/i, and friends of the SLC community.
