What to Bring to SLC
Here are lists of recommended, prohibited and optional items to bring to Sarah Lawrence College to make residence living more comfortable and convenient. Be sure to coordinate with your roommate(s) to avoid bringing multiple TVs, phones, radios, mini-fridges, etc. And bear in mind that within 20 minutes of the College, there are several supply stores including Bed, Bath & Beyond, Sears, Target and Home Depot.
Things to Bring:
- Bedding: Standard size twin size mattress pad, sheets, blanket(s) and pillows
- Lamps (desk and bedside)
- Phone
- Alarm clock
- Clothes hangers
- Personal décor
- UL approved extension cord and power strip
- Laundry stuff (basket, hamper bag, detergent, stain remover)
- A few kitchen utensils, cups, plate, bowl, mug
- Bathroom supplies and caddy
- Towels
Things to consider:
- Small tool kit with hammer and screw driver
- Computer
- Ethernet card and cable
- TV (and rabbit ears for reception—the College does not have cable)
- Stereo equipment (plus headphones!)
- Area rug
- Small Microwave/Refrigerator (If you are living in an area with a kitchen, you will not need a refrigerator)
- Batteries
- Flashlight
- Fan (the residences are not air conditioned)
- Small vacuum
- Hair dryer
- Iron and ironing board
- First aid kit
- A bicycle for getting around campus
Things to leave at home (we really mean it!):
- Candles and incense
- Halogen lamps
- String lights or paper lanterns
- Tapestries
- Heaters
- Air conditioners
- Hot plates
- Toaster ovens
- Large microwaves
- Large refrigerators
- Pets (including fish)
