"There's no sex in physics…”
So maybe that's why U.S. students fare so badly when compared to their international counterparts. Science education in the U.S. is in a bad state, despite decades of education reform, continuous calls for accountability, and enough blame to make your head spin. Is it really all that bad? Even if it is, why should we care? Is it really a problem if fewer than 50% of Americans accept the Theory of Evolution and the number is dropping? You decide.
7 p.m., MacCracken Meeting Room
Transfer Ice Cream Social. A chance for transfer students to connect in an informal setting.
8 p.m., Reisinger Concert Hall
SEX SIGNALS
This interactive program blends a unique combination of improvisational comedy, education, and audience participation to provide a provocative look at the issues of dating, sex, and acquaintance rape. The two-person show explores how mixed messages, gender role stereotypes, and unrealistic fantasies contribute to misunderstandings in interpersonal relationships. Although the message is a serious one, the show uses humor throughout to engage audiences in candid discussions about interpersonal relationships.
9 p.m., Westlands North Lawn (Rain location: Reisinger Concert Hall)
Drive-In Movie: The Illusionist
Bring a blanket and watch Edward Norton and Jessica Biel in the 2006 blockbuster, The Illusionist. Norton plays Eisenheim, a magician in turn-of-the-century Vienna and Biel is his long-ost, childhood sweetheart. Watch as they use magic to outwit Crown Prince Leopold.
